About Hancock
The Hancock Neighborhood in Central Austin is bordered by 45th Street on the north, 32nd Street on the south, Duval Street on the west and I-H 35 on the east.
The namesake of the Hancock Neighborhood was an early Texas pioneer, Lewis Hancock. He was the son of George Hancock, a veteran of the Battle of San Jacinto and the co-owner from the 1830s of the Trading Post at Sixth and Congress, where the Scarbrough Building now stands.
